Starting on a happy note: the 2019 Pacemaker Award Finalists were finally announced (woohoo!)

Not so happy note: the Scribendi 2019 Edition was not a finalist (boo)

After receiving 126 entries from 22 states and Canada, the Associated College Press announced 41 collegiate magazines in either general interest or literary arts as finalists for the Pacemaker Award. The finalists are honored as leading magazine journalists due to the high quality of content, design, and graphics within their college’s edition. It is important that the magazine have a balance of enriching stories and quick-reads that are complemented by visual art for maximum readability and flow. From the 41 finalists, a total of 14 winners will be announced between October 31st – November 3rd.

Even though Scribendi was not honored for the 2019 edition, it was nominated as a finalist in 2015 and won for the 2006 and 2013 editions. This year, rather than mourn the fate of the 2019 edition, the Scribendi staff hopes to analyze the literary arts magazines of this year’s Pacemakers finalists and note elements of their design that were consistent as well as effective and use it as inspiration for our 2020 edition!
