CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK

Deadline: October 11, 2024

Requirements

Only undergraduate students currently enrolled in an accredited Honors program or college in the Western Regional Honors Council (WRHC) or the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) are eligible to submit work to be considered for publication in Scribendi. An Honors program is not the same as an honors society (e.g. Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Kappa, Golden Key). Honors programs require you to take actual Honors classes at your university. If you are not sure if you are part of an Honors program, please contact us or the program director at your school.

You may submit a total of five (5) works, divided as follows:

  • One (1) submission each for the creative nonfiction and short fiction categories
  • Up to three (3) submissions in the following categories: poetry, photography, visual art, foreign language, and open media

For more details about each category, see the “Categories” section below.

Works submitted to Scribendi may not have been published elsewhere and may not be currently submitted to another publication. Scribendi claims First North American Serial Rights. This means that the works submitted here cannot appear in or be submitted to any other publication until after the release of this issue of Scribendi. Rights will revert to the author upon publication in Scribendi.

Submitted works must also have been written/created or have had extensive revisions since you entered college.

In addition to being eligible for consideration for publication in Scribendi, all undergraduate Honors students who submit to Scribendi and are enrolled in an Honors program or college in the Western Regional Honors Council (WRHC) region are eligible to be considered for the WRHC Awards. These awards are given in the categories of short fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, visual art, photography, and open media. Each year, a committee of WRHC faculty awards a $250 prize to one work published in Scribendi in each of these categories.

Any questions about the submission process can be directed to scribendi@unm.edu. Please label the subject field as “Submission Questions.”
