Scribendi News
Now Accepting Submissions
Scribendi is now
accepting submissions for the 2010 issue of Scribendi.
Throughout our 23 years in print, we have published the best
work from undergraduate honors students in the 13-state western
region of the U.S. For our 24th edition, we are seeking works
of outstanding excellence in the categories of short fiction,
essays, poetry, foreign language, visual art, photography,
and digital art as well as cover design.
In addition to being published in our high quality, professionally produced magazine,
one submission in each category will be distinguished as a Western Regional Honors
Council Award Winner, and the students who produce these works will receive $250
each. Our selections for publication are made through a blind-jury process and
we take every other measure possible to eliminate bias.

Scribendi 2009
The 23rd edition of Scribendi, published
in April 2009, features 36 works by 29 undergraduate writers and
artists representing 14 honors programs and colleges in the western
U.S. These works were chosen by our staff from 350 total submissions
by 134 students in 32 universities or colleges in the 13-state western
region of the U.S. While space and budget limitations made it impossible
for the staff to publish all the fine works we received, we worked
hard to make our final selections representative of the diversity
and high quality of works produced by Honors students in the western
region.

Copies of the current edition of our magazine as well as back issues are available in the Scribendi office (UNM Campus, Student Health Center, Room 11C) for a suggested donation of $10-$15. You may also order them through Paypal by following this link.
What is Scribendi?
Scribendi is a high quality publication of art and literature, sponsored by the Western Regional Honors Council and the University Honors Program (UHP) at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Produced completely by UHP students, Scribendi publishes creative works by undergraduate honors students in more than 220 western colleges and universities in 13 states in the western U.S. Functioning largely as an educational internship in small publication production, the two UHP courses required of Scribendi staff members (one in the fall and one in the spring semesters) provide 10-12 student staff members with practical, hands-on experience in proofreading, copyediting, typography, magazine design and layout (using desktop publishing software), fund-raising, marketing and distribution, as well as small press management.
