Regular submissions and cover contest designs may be submitted electronically (our preferred method) or in hard copy format. Works in hard copy format may be submitted by snail mail, or hand delivered. See below for specific instructions for how to submit your work.
Submitting work electronically:
1. Install the latest version of Adobe’s free Adobe Reader. The submission form makes use of interactive fields that require an up-to-date version of Adobe Reader.
2. Once you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed, download the Scribendi Submission Form and save it to your computer.
3. Open the form on your computer, read it carefully, and fill it out.
4. When you’ve completed the form, save the PDF on your hard drive as the title of your piece. For example, save it as The Pigeon.pdf if your piece is titled “The Pigeon.” Please be precise, as an accurate file name will allow us to keep better track of your piece.
5. Attach the following files to an email:
- The completed Submission Form PDF you saved to your hard drive
- The digital file of the piece itself (please name the digital file the same as you named the PDF, which should be the title of the piece)
In the subject line of the email, please write “Submission:
[Title of Submission]”. For example, the subject line would read “Submission:
The Pigeon” using the above example.
6. Send the email, with both files
attached, to scribend@unm.edu.
If you have difficulties opening the form
or sending the PDF, please first make sure you have the latest version
of Adobe Reader (available here).
If that doesn’t resolve the issue, please send an email to scribend@unm.edu
for assistance.
Submitting work in hard copy format:

3. Open the form on your computer, read it carefully, and fill it out.
4. Print a copy of the completed form.
5. Mail the following items:
- The printed Submission Form;
- Prose or poetry: Three (3) hard copies of your submission;
- Art: One copy of your submission in digital or print form as described on the requirements and categories page;
- Art only: A self-addressed, stamped enveloped
(SASE) that fits the dimensions of your work.
