Awards

WRHC Awards
All undergraduate students submitting work to Scribendi, who are enrolled in an Honors program or college in the 11-state Western Regional Honors Council (WRHC) region, are eligible to be considered for the annual Scribendi WRHC Award. WRHC awards are given to one work the judges consider to be outstanding in each of the categories of Short Fiction, Essays/Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry, Visual Art, Photography, and Digital Art. Winners in each category receive $250.00. The literature categories (Short Fiction, Essays/Creative Non-Fiction, and Poetry) are chosen by a panel of faculty judges from the University of Montana. The art categories (Visual Art, Photography, and Digital Art) are chosen by a panel of faculty judges at the University of New Mexico.

Staff Choice Awards
All undergraduate students submitting work to Scribendi and meeting the eligibility requirements for submission are eligible for the Staff Choice Award. Staff Choice Awards are given to works that the staff wishes to especially acknowledge for originality in content or style. Like the WRHC Awards, these awards are given in the categories of Short Fiction, Essays/Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry, Visual Art, Photography, and Digital Art. The Staff Choice Awards are chosen annually by each new Scribendi staff. This award consists of special recognition in the magazine only; no monetary award is given.

Editors’ Choice Award
All undergraduate students submitting work to Scribendi and meeting the eligibility requirements for submission are eligible for the Editors’ Choice Award. One award is given annually to a single work in any of the six categories that represents exceptional merit and has not been recognized by any of the other awards. The Editors’ Choice Award is chosen by the editorial staff. This award consists of special recognition in the magazine only; no monetary award is given.
